5 Queen Palms
Saturday was a very beautiful day. The sun was shining, but it wasn't hot so it felt like a good day to be productive. We went for a drive and looked at several nurseries for different plant ideas. There are some really nice places, but we ended up buying our trees from Home Depot as they were about the same price or cheaper, and they had a truck we could rent for $20. The trees are maybe 10-15 feet tall, but they will grow a little taller eventually. They look much bigger when you are out there than in the photo.
I think we dug holes for at least 3 hours or more. The problem was that the soil was kind of compacted and clay like, plus we kept moving the trees an inch or two this way or that. We didn't want them to look too planned, or totally random either. Also we had to remove some plants that were already there, and dig new holes for them in another location. (which is why there is this random plant in between the trees.)
Eventually we want the queen palms to line the whole side of the fence by the pool, but for now it looks so much better already.

Eko's Birthday
Eko is a year old now. Like any proud parents, we had to embarass him by putting a silly little birthday hat on him. He was pretty tolerant, and was happy with the treats he got after.
He has grown quite a bit since we got him, but hopefully he won't get much bigger.
He has been fun to have around. Eko is always happy when you pay attention to him, and especially when you feed him. He loves to eat. Sometimes he gets bored and will chew things he is not supposed to, but overall we love him.
